In this talk, I'd like to share my experience about integrating Elasticsearch to our Django app and the data relationship between Elasticsearch and your main database. Moreover, rather than only using Elasticsearch as a efficient filtering tool, how can we leverage the power of Elasticsearch to improve users search experience.

Based on my learning path, I found it quite interesting to dive into this powerful tool, improve search experience without having strong knowledge about information retrieval. Thanks to the amazing work of Open Source developers, building application is no longer a pain start point by using open source frameworks like Django, Flask. While it's easy to reach a point where your application do rely on a search function over certain amount of information, you may start indexing fields in your database where search can be performed. Databases can be good enough for filtering or simple string matching, but they are not a good candidate when you need advanced search functionality.
