(日本語 | PyCon JP Poster-Session Applications)

PyCon JP 2017 is a perfect opportunity to connect with a wide range of people. Poster sessions allow you to make the most of that opportunity.

You don’t have to be a Python professional (more on that later).

Apply now!

What is a poster session?

Poster sessions allow you to show posters, make a presentation, hold discussions and demos in a prepared environment.

You can get even closer to other people interested in Python and communicate with them. Please use the poster sessions to get feedback on your own work, and make new connections!

You don’t have to be a Python professional. Please apply if you think your presentation will be interesting to the PyCon JP 2017 attendees, who come wide range of skill levels and backgrounds.

You can modify your proposal at any time between the application date and the deadline, so feel free to apply early, and invite people you know to attend.

  • You don’t need to have an actual poster
  • We recommend that you apply early

Three Key Properties of a Poster Session

/2017/ja/files/10/postesessions_contents.png
  1. There is not much pressure
    • The presentation is in a compact space, so there’s no need for excess worry or anxiety. Just be yourself.
    • The organizing committee will set up the poster session, so feel free to consult with us and ask us questions at any time.
  2. You can present as many times as you want
    • During the poster session, you can organize your time and the contents of your presentation however you want.
    • You can prepare several different presentations, as well as new experiments and challenges.
  3. Poster sessions allow you to get close and Interactive with other participants
    • Unlike talk sessions, you can present right in front of your audience, so you can convey your message more directly.
    • By holding discussions and Q&A, you can obtain direct feedback.

Three Merits of Presenting a Poster Session

  1. You can communicate with other people
    • Poster sessions enable you to make an even deeper connection with the audience.
    • It’s easy to make new friends with people who share common interests.
  2. You can obtain precious feedback
    • Poster sessions are a great opportunity to obtain direct feedback about your own work from an otherwise inaccessible, diverse audience.
    • It’s also possible to make a new discovery through communication with the attendees.
  3. You can use poster sessions to report on your experience and progress
    • You can report on your experience and progress through preparing a poster session and presenting it to other attendees.
    • For example, junior developers may gain presentation experience through organizing and presenting a poster session, and add it to their presentation portfolio.
